2023 AGM

We are pleased to invite you to our Interfaith Annual General meeting on Monday 5th June from 7pm.

We invite you to join us for a light vegetarian meal and social before participating in our Annual General Meeting which will start around 8.15.

This event will take place at the Broadgreen Community Centre, Salisbury St, Swindon SN1 2AN.

Swindon Hindu Temple Visit – Wednesday 19th April

Here are the details of our next Swindon Interfaith Event – a visit to Swindon’s new Hindu Temple.

We will attend the Swindon Hindu temple for a tour and discussion. This will take place on Wednesday 19th April 2023 at 7.30pm.

Some light vegetarian refreshments will also be served.

Swindon Hindu Temple, Regent House, Theatre Sq, Swindon SN1 1QN (above Chaat Café, entrance is behind Bus stops opposite MECA).

Swindon Interfaith Walk: Saturday 18th June 3pm

Please join us for our upcoming “faith walk” on Saturday 18th June 3pm, to be followed by refreshments. All are welcome.

  • 3pm: meet at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Highworth Road, Swindon SN3 4QS  (turn off the main road by the Rat Trap pub and fire station and follow road round and go through church gates to find ample free parking in the church car park)
  • 3-5pm: Interfaith walk stopping at a few sites of significance to some faith groups in Swindon, with brief background information provided at each site
  • 5-6pm: refreshments back at the start point and an opportunity to chat with members of other faith groups 

Below is a simple sketch of the walk. Approximate total distance is 6.6 km (or 4.4 miles). 

The walk is from 1 to 3 and return, and is generally flat and on a well-defined route.

3. Holy ground of the Family Federation for Worldwide Peace and Unification (snack provided, and toilet available here)

N.B. Those wishing to walk a shorter distance are welcome to return earlier to the church building at 1.

2022 AGM

The Swindon Interfaith AGM will take place on Wednesday March 23rd at 7.30pm.
The session will be held online for all who would like to attend; please let us know in writing if you wish to formally represent your faith group on our committee.

2021 Event Summary

Monday 22nd February – A Talk on Buddhism – Jo Backus gave a talk on Buddhism. A link to notes on this presentation is available here.

Wednesday 7th April – AGM & Paganism 101 – join us for our Annual General Meeting, which will be followed by a talk on Pagan Traditions in Swindon and Wiltshire. A copy of the Paganism 101 presentation is available here. The minutes from the AGM can be viewed here.

Wednesday 14th July 2021 – Avebury Visit

We visited the Avebury Stone Circle and Church with views from Christian and Pagan traditions on the importance of Interfaith.

Wednesday 18th August 2021 – Pizza and Poetry

We explored the beautiful community gardens at TWIGS (Therapeutic Work in Gardens Swindon). Members were encouraged to bring a poem or spiritually inspired reading to share.

Interfaith Week 14th-21st November

Sunday 14th – An Evening at the Sikh Gurdwara – 6pm

We joined the Sikh community in Prayers, Hymns and SUKHASSAN (putting Guru Granth Sahib to Bed). A copy of the slides can be found here, a video with some highlights of the evening is available here. You can also watch a short introductory video about Sikh beliefs here.

Monday 15th – Devotional Film Night

The Swindon Baha’i community hosted an Interfaith Devotional and Film Night on the theme of Prayer, featuring short films and prayers. A video recording of this virtual event can be found here.

Tuesday 16th – Called To Be Light

We joined the Christian Community for a 30-minute vigil on zoom.  Passing the Flame – a shared light shining strong for 30 years. This was a Virtual Event, Hosted by the Christian Community. We have published a copy a summary of our 30 year history on our website.

Wednesday 17th – Meet The Latter-Day Saints – 7.30pm

We joined the Latter-Day Saints for an informative evening, where they will be sharing more about their Faith, with a tour of the Church. There was also be a youth Activity for 11-17s. Followed by Refreshments. A video with some highlights from the evening is available here. Thursday 18th – Muslim Sufi Devotional – 7.30pm

We joined in the regular Muslim Sufi Devotional, you can watch these video highlights.

Friday 19th – Rally of Hope

We joined the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification for a short film and information evening. A copy of the film shown can be watched here.

In 2020, Swindon Interfaith reached a significant milestone – 30 years! We couldn’t hold a proper celebration last year, so we have decided to host it in 2021 instead. The event was an opportunity to celebrate and reflect on our successes over the last 30 years as well as looking forward to the future. Video highlights from the event can watched here. You can also listen to an audio recording of one of our founders Margaret Griffiths, who sadly passed away a few years ago, speaking in 2014 about the founding of the group.
