“Developing an educational program for young people in post-communist
countries and in Palestine”
William Haines is a retired RE teacher and director of curriculum
development for the International Educational Foundation. He lived with
his family for seven years in Russia following the fall of the Berlin
Wall developing a series of textbooks for the spiritual and moral
education of young people in post-communist societies. The books were
translated and published with the support of ministries of education in
several of the post-Soviet states. More recently two of the books have
been translated into Arabic and are being introduced to schools in the
Palestinian Territories.
